Metro 2039 Release Date: February 4, 2027 on PS5, Xbox and PC

Release date at a glance

Deep Silver's wording is that METRO 2039 is "set to launch on all platforms on February 4th 2027", with a footnote: "Available February 5th in some territories including Asia, Australia & New Zealand." Every edition, including the Collector's Edition, shares the same launch date.

Why some regions get it on February 5

Deep Silver has not explained the footnote. Asia, Australia and New Zealand sit in time zones ahead of Europe and the Americas, which often leads to a later calendar date for the same release, but Deep Silver has not confirmed that this is the reason.

The exact unlock time for each store and region is not confirmed as of 2026-10-14. Deep Silver has not published a release-time map, and pre-load dates have not been announced either.

How the date was announced

1. 2020-11

   4A Games confirms a new single-player METRO game is in active development.

2. 2026-04-16

   METRO 2039 is revealed at the Xbox First Look broadcast, "coming … this winter".

3. 2026-06-07

   The Hunter gameplay reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase confirms a February 2027 launch.

4. 2026-09-03

   The release date trailer at Sony's State of Play sets February 4, 2027.

5. 2026-10-13

   Pre-orders open for all three editions.

6. 2027-02-04

   Launch (February 5 in some territories).

Since the September announcement, Deep Silver has repeated the February 4 date in its gamescom wrap-up, its October 1 series update and the October 13 pre-order announcement. No delay has been announced as of 2026-10-14.

The road to that date was gradual. On April 13, 2026, a 15-second teaser announced a global reveal for April 16 at 10AM PDT. The reveal trailer and a 15-minute showcase then promised a winter release. Two months later, the first full gameplay trailer narrowed that to February 2027, and the State of Play trailer in September named the day.

Where to play on day one

• PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro: digital on the PlayStation Store, or on disc from retailers.
• Xbox Series X|S: digital on the Xbox Store, or on disc from retailers. The Xbox Store lists "Play with: Xbox Series X|S and PC".
• PC: Steam, the Epic Games Store or Xbox on PC, or a physical code-in-box edition. Windows only.

METRO release dates through the years

METRO 2039 is the fourth mainline game and the longest wait between entries so far. 4A Games first confirmed it was working on a new single-player METRO in November 2020; the game was revealed about five and a half years later. The past editions page covers each game's special editions.

Collector's Edition release and delivery

The Collector's Edition is part of the launch line-up: Deep Silver describes the three editions as "the editions that will be available on launch day". When a box actually reaches you depends on the retailer's dispatch and delivery terms, which we cannot confirm for any store.

Because the Collector's Edition is a large physical box, check whether your retailer ships before launch, on launch day or after. If arriving on February 4 matters to you, ask the retailer before ordering. Store links are on the pre-order page.

Launch-day checklist for Collector's Edition buyers

1. Confirm your delivery address and that someone can accept a large parcel.
2. Open the outer box carefully and keep all packaging, inserts and paperwork.
3. Check the contents against the official list on what's in the box.
4. Report missing or damaged items to your retailer straight away; the retailer handles returns, not Deep Silver.
5. Keep any codes safe; the Story Expansion DLC arrives later in 2027.

Story Expansion DLC: 2027

The Story Expansion DLC included with the Deluxe and Collector's Editions is due in 2027, after the main game. Deep Silver has not given a month or season as of 2026-10-14. See the Deluxe Edition page.

Key dates before launch

More to see before launch

Deep Silver's pre-order announcement promises "lots more to show you in the coming months before release", and its release date announcement said more about the technology, specs and modes would follow. So far the public has had one hands-on opportunity: the event demo at gamescom 2026 in August. PLAION Polska has also announced that the game will be playable at PGA 2026 in Poznań from October 23 to 25.

Xbox Game Pass availability at launch has not been announced as of 2026-10-14. If that changes, it will appear on the news page.

What to do before February 4

• Choose an edition. The editions comparison shows what each one includes.
• Decide on the Collector's Edition early. It is limited and sold at selected retailers while stocks last; see the price guide.
• Check your PC. The Epic Games Store lists demanding system requirements.
• Catch up on the series. Owners of METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux get a free next-gen update in October 2026.

Platforms and performance at launch

Deep Silver confirmed in the release date announcement that a 60FPS Performance Mode with ray tracing will be available at launch on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. The State of Play trailer was captured on a PS5 Pro in Performance Mode; Deep Silver's gamescom wrap-up describes it as 4K at 60 FPS with ray tracing.

On PC, the game is Windows only: Steam lists no macOS or Linux version. More on the platforms page.
